| Canadian Study Evaluates Viagra As A Suitable Assistance In Treating Minor Depression
A research headed by Dr. Sidney Kennedy, psychiatrist-in-chief at the University Health Network in Toronto and his group of associates has found that the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra helps men with erection problems to overcome minor depression to a significant extent.
The researchers selected 184 men having erection problems for the last four years and suffering from minor depression and randomly treated them with Viagra and placebo pills for six weeks. It was seen that the 98 individuals administered with Viagra had a 47 decrease in their depression and it was further observed that they had undergone a change from mild to minimal depression. Regarding the placebo administered people, it was seen that their depression quality had undergone only 26 percent decrease and thus remained in the range of mild depression.
Among the group who had taken Viagra, it was observed that 77 per cent achieved successful intercourse while in the placebo administered group only 40 per cent had intercourse successfully and it was also seen that 63 per cent of the viagra administered patients were without any erection problems in comparison to the placebo group from which 53 per cent individuals were found to be without any erection problems after the completion of the experiment.
As far as side-effects are concerned, the results derived from the experiment revealed that 31 per cent men from the placebo group and 43 per cent from the slidenafil group suffered from mild side-effects and two per cent from both the groups were identified with serious side-effects.
