Date: 23rd July 2007
AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest and oldest healthcare, research, prevention and education provider in the US is strongly against the promotion of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra by Pfizer in the advertisement 'Viva Viagra`. Altogether this non-profit healthcare organization has organized a media meeting to throw light on what the institution has termed as Pfizer's irresponsible Viagra advertisement.
The advertisement features a man in his 40s singing Viva Viagra" to the tune of "Viva Las Vegas!", the party anthem by Elvis Presley and as it is ready to be premiered, Michael Weinstein, AIDS Healthcare Foundation President asserts that through the ad, Pfizer is gearing up to make the Viagra promotion campaign immensely successful like Las Vegas' 'What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas' campaign.
Moreover, a whole lot of other accusations against Pfizer are also spelled out by AHF. These include AHF`s charge that the illegal Viagra advertisement by Pfizer would promote haphazard Viagra usage by people and it may further accelerate the occurrence of STD and HIV to a significant extent.
Michael Weinstein, the AHF President expresses his disappointment at the FDA support for what he considers as the non-medical Viagra usage and also states that he is very much disheartened at the permission granted to Pfizer by FCC to release Viagra advertisements such as 'Viva Viagra`. |
