Date:
December 18, 2006
Recently in Glasgow , due to a snag developed in the e-Formulary IT system the patients got hold of the erectile dysfunction pill Viagra instead of the anti-smoking medicine Zyban which the doctors had recommended for them.
The source of the problem has been found to be an update of the General Practice Administration System for Scotland . Six weeks passed without the problem being discovered and it will take four more weeks for the problem to be rectified.
As the difficuly became evident, The National Heath Service of the Greater Glasgow area immediately issued health warnings to doctors operating in the area.
A spokesperson of the health authority made it clear that not a single patient has complained on getting hold of the wrong medicines.
