Viagra can Help Diabetic Women

Date: June 2, 2006

A small study has proved that Viagra (Sildenafil) can help young diabetic women with sexual dysfunction.

Diabetic women experience some problems related to sex, like difficulty in getting an orgasm, no enjoyment in sex and pain during intercourse due to the fact that diabetic women have some common problems like vaginal dryness and discomfort and decreased libido. Dr. Salvatore Caruso and associates, from the University of Catania in Italy had recruited 32 women with type 1 diabetes who had normal sexual desire in the past, but presently experienced sexual dysfunction for 3.5 years on average.

The diabetic women were instructed to take Viagra one hour before sexual intercourse and the result of using Viagra was a significantly improved arousal, orgasm, and enjoyment. But the desire and frequency of having sex were not changed due to Viagra. A special ultrasound test was used to measure blood flow in the clitoris and it was found that Viagra caused an improved blood flow to the clitoris.

The world is going gaga over Viagra, the first oral medication pill for treating male sexual dysfunction, better known as erectile dysfunction. The FDA approved Viagra in the year 1998 and ever since then, Viagra has taken the world by storm. Statistics reveal that approximately 52% of men between the ages of 40 and 70 experience some degree of erectile dysfunction. But interestingly, erectile dysfunction does not affect only the elderly but some 10% of men in their 20's and 30's also report difficulty in achieving and maintaining an erection.

But today, the new oral medication Viagra has changed the course of treatment for erectile dysfunction.
