| Gene Therapy Likely To Replace Viagra As An Erectile Dysfunction Treatment
Date: October 27, 2006
In a rare experiment, the injection of a particular gene in male rats showing symptoms of diabetes has been found to be effective in relieving the animals from the grip of erectile dysfunction. The significantly promising results derived from this experiment have shown signs of evolvement of a therapy as a male erectile dysfunction cure in the near future.
The testing was a handiwork of Dr Jesse Mills and his colleagues. In a typical way, the group of researchers first induced diabetes in the male rats and then inserted a specific gene in their penises which further showed immense improvement in the erectile functions of the rats. The results derived from this experiment are found to be far better when compared with the conclusions found by conducting the same experiment in controlled rats.
The injection given in the gene therapy is found to last for a month and so if this treatment yields the same successful results in humans, 70% diabetics that suffer from male impotency world over can hope of being cured of the deadly disorder.
