Ecstasy Pills in the Name of Viagra Lands a Man in Jail
Date: February 13, 2006
Kenneth Tuck, a disabled man in Wales , had to suffer twin problems. Firstly, he spent around 500 Pounds on 200 heart shaped pills thinking that he is buying Viagra, the sex-drug that would boost his sex life but those pills turned out to be the banned drug Ecstasy and the second jolt that the man received was that he was imprisoned for possessing Ecstasy.
The Valentine's Day's plan for this romantic man is now a flop show as he has been sent to jail for a period of 8 months, as sentenced by the Caernarfon Crown Court. Tuck pleaded guilty of possessing 183 Ecstasy tablets and a smaller amount of amphetamine.
However, he escaped an even harsher punishment because of the fact that the prosecutors believed in his words that the 'mix-up' of the drug was a genuine and unintentional mistake.
Earlier also, he had been in prison for the drug offence charges. Last year he had been seen buying the drugs from a photographer at an event in Llandudno. His defence lawyer Rhys Rowlands said in Tuck's defence that the heart shaped pills that turned out to be Ecstasy really looked like Viagra, was heart shaped and gave an impression that due to the forthcoming love festival of Valentine's Day the pill were shaped so. "He thought they were Viagra and didn't realise they were ecstasy," said Mr Rowlands. But instead of destroying the tablets when he realised what they actually were, Tuck had "succumbed to temptation and used them", Mr Rowlands added.
