Viagra Gets Cold Response from Mumbaikars.
Date: February 2, 2006
After nearly one and a half month since Viagra was launched, Mumbai men, seemed to have handed over their verdict about Viagra.
Mumbai men seemed not much to be interested in the anti-impotence pill, Viagra, manufactured by the pharmaceutical giant- Pfizer. Contrary to expectations, Viagra has received a rather cold response in this cosmopolitan city of India .
The two most convincing reasons for this kind of response from the men of this city is Viagra's extremely high price and the availability of nearly forty generic versions of this drug. Viagra, if compared to the other generic pills available in the Indian market is priced at a much higher price.
A 50mg tablet of Viagra costs Rs/- 463 in the Indian market and a 100mg tablet costs Rs/- 594. Viagra's price in India has been fixed at par with the global market and hence it is nearly thirty times costlier than the generic versions of the drug manufactured by the local pharmacies here like Ranbaxy, Cipla, Sun pharmaceuticals etc. to just name a few.
