Spam Viagra E-mails Are On The Rise

Date: November 27, 2006

According to a recent report, it has become evident that spam emails have been used as a latest tactic in the illegal sale of Viagra and other drugs and also to facilitate porn offers. The use of complex image spam and Office spam, a kind of unsolicited commercial e-mail in which malicious code is embedded in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint by criminal organizations to meet their ends has raised concern across the globe.

Robot networks, commonly known as botnets are increasingly used by criminal to meet their illegal ends and this practice is on the rise day by day. An e-mail vendor Postini reports that the use of unwanted commercial emails to further illegal drug dealing has reached the worst state.

A California based firm San Carlos reveals that there has been a whooping 59 percent increase in spam e-mails among the 70 billion e-mails that Postini processed from September to November which has further escalated the level of junk e-mails to 91 percent of emails sent.

The world is going gaga over Viagra, the first oral medication pill for treating male sexual dysfunction, better known as erectile dysfunction. The FDA approved Viagra in the year 1998 and ever since then, Viagra has taken the world by storm. Statistics reveal that approximately 52% of men between the ages of 40 and 70 experience some degree of erectile dysfunction. But interestingly, erectile dysfunction does not affect only the elderly but some 10% of men in their 20's and 30's also report difficulty in achieving and maintaining an erection.

But today, the new oral medication Viagra has changed the course of treatment for erectile dysfunction.
