| Viagra Sales Yield Unsatisfactory Results
Date: 14th May 2007
According to a source, the forecasts pronounced worldwide when Viagra entered the pharmaceutical market, that the drug would usher a sexual revolution and that the sales of the medicine would be extraordinarily high, proved to be devoid of truth. This fact is evidenced by the amount collected from the total sales of Viagra, Cialis and Levitra in 2006 which is only $3 billion while Viagra sales were alone predicted at $5 billion a year.
Sources point out that when the Pfizer manufactured erectile dysfunction drug Viagra was launched in the market, Playboy made the prediction that the drug would bring in a sexual revolution "as monumental as the birth control pill and Adweek made a similar comment stating that the demand for Viagra would be so huge that "not one dollar need ever be spent advertising it." But the reality turned out to be something else and the prescriptions for Viagra remained steady for three years in spite of continuous campaigns to promote the drug.
