Bright Chances of Lower Viagra Prices in India
Date: January 3, 2006
Viagra, the anti-impotence pill manufactured by Pfizer is the world class drug for treating erectile dysfunction in men.
Recently the drug was launched in India after a long wait of 7 years since its launch. People in India have been using the generic version of the drug made by the Indian pharmacies. These drugs, containing the active ingredient of Viagra, sildenafil citrate, are in circulation in the Indian market at a much cheaper price than the branded Viagra of Pfizer.
Now the good news is that the company Pfizer is thinking to reduce the price of Viagra by the mid of the year 2006, as informed by the managing Director of Pfizer in India , Kewal Handa. At present the recently launched Viagra in the Indian market is available in two strengths, the 50mg pill at Rs 463 and the 100 mg pill at Rs 594.
There might be a reduction in custom duty in February 2006. Once the duty is reduced, the benefit would certainly pass on to the customer as well. The current custom duty is 35 per cent which can come down to 15 percent very soon. Once the custom duty is reduced the price of Pfizer's Viagra would automatically come down for the Indian customers.
