A New ED Drug Soon to be in the Market
Date: December 18, 2005
Till now we have known mainly just two drugs to treat the male erectile dysfunction -Cialis and Viagra. Another would-be rival to Viagra and Cialis which is in its testing period still is impressing scientists in clinical tests.
This drug is known as avanafil, the experimental impotence pill, which has been known to be rapid-acting, causes no vision effects when tested on animals and is highly effective in helping men overcome mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. That, at least, is the word from avanafil's developer, a small California drug firm named, Vivus Inc.
Vivus has high hopes of putting its drug on the market to compete against Viagra, Levitra and Cialis. The last is Eli Lilly and Co.'s entry in the erectile dysfunction wars.
Vivus released upbeat test results on its drug at this weekend's meeting in New York of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America. Avanafil still has to undergo rigorous last-phase tests, so it's more than a year away from being put on the market.
