Research can bring Forth likely a better drug than Viagra
Date: November 16, 2005
Ever since Viagra was introduced for treating male sexual dysfunction voices have been raised for making a ‘female Viagra’ as well. But since it has been always argued that the female sexuality does not just lie in the genitals but in her brain is what that has made difficult for the researchers to make any such drug for treating the female sexual dysfunction.
But now, the makers of a new drug say that it is the female equivalent to Viagra and has the potentiality to boost a woman’s sexuality almost instantly. But it is yet too early to have the drug in the market as it would still take at least 2 to 3 years to get the approval from FDA.
This new drug is being made by Palatin Technologies Inc and what makes this drug different from Viagra is that unlike Viagra this drug is a nasal spray and not an oral pill. This nasal spray is absorbed into the body instantly. In the test studies conducted on both men and women the subjects reported a tingling and throbbing sensation and a sudden strong impulsive desire to have sex within minutes.
This nasal spray is used by taking off the protective cap from the spray and inhaling the spray by taking it close to one’s nostrils. Dubbed "PT 141," it works in women by sensitizing the vaginal tissue which in turn heightens sensation during stimulation.
The makers of PT 141 say FDA approval is still likely at least three years away as the nasal spray works on the brain, and not with blood pressure. The researchers further say that it may hold promise more than other drugs for the same purpose in the market.
